That holy mess inside your soul...

...sews perfect patchwork quilts. Makes art that grows in barren soil where weaker flowers lilt. -Dallas Clayton
Life is so incredibly hard. There are moments of intense joy, minutes of numbing sadness, days of confusion and days of clarity. Despite the highs and too frequent lows, I'm so thankful for the struggles of being human. Mine have done a fairly good job at keeping me humble, kind and open-minded. They've taught me empathy, resilience and perseverance. I'm learning that sometimes it's best to sit under the clouds of life and feel the rain and that oftentimes my personal storms won't pass until I'm done learning from them. I think maybe this is what God meant when he said, "Be still and know..." He knew we can't run from our problems and there is only true happiness in the present moment. When we are anywhere than where we really are there is misery. When our mind is absent from the this moment we experience anxiety and unsettledness. Now here's to hoping I can practice what I preach. Send positive vibes my way because I know it won't be easy.
P.S. Happy Mother's Day to all the incredible women out there that have influenced the world for the better. I love you.

Sunny With a Chance of Souvlaki.

I've had so many people asking me about Greece deets and while I normally blog just for the photos and a few thoughts from my crazy brain, I'm always down to help a homie out.
So if you came here for the basic travel deets, I'm ready for you.
This whole journey started at the age of 12 after watching Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants and falling in love with Costas, the greek boy that lived on the fishing boat and had a solid set of abs.

Day 1: Arrived in Athens, stayed in the City Circus Hostel which was so cute and clean. Blakely (cute bff with the long brown hair) got her cheeks squeezed by an old crazy lady in the streets and we missed the Acropolis and the Parthenon because we failed to look up the closing hours. Rookie mistake. I really wouldn't spend more than a day or two in Athens.
Day 2: We took a train to get to the ferry and I dragged my 30 pound suitcase through the cobble stone streets at the crack of dawn, waking up anyone within a 2 mile radius. The ferries run daily, so there's really no need to book in advance. We bought our ticket right there at the port. Our ferry took us to the island of Mykonos where we spent 3 days in the cutest little Air Bnb along Ornos Beach. The island is so small that really anywhere you stay you're still close enough to get to the main area (Mykonos Town) quickly. Turns out we arrived on Greek Independence Day so there were celebrations in the streets, girls wearing traditional dresses and drunk people dancing in various formations along the ocean side. lol.
Day 3-4: Soaked up rays at Ornos beach and went into town at night by taxi for dancing and checking out the night life. We also checked out a beautiful view from Amenistis Lighthouse and ate our weight in pastries from the local bakery.
Day 5-9: We saved the best for last and hopped on a ferry (round 2) headed for Santorini.
Must dos- Rent a car or four wheelers to get around on the island quickly without waiting on public transport. Spend a day or two in Oia. The first time I saw the views there I was overcome with emotion. I just stopped right there in my tracks, breathed in and out and cemented the memory in my brain. Check out the views from Akrotiri Lighthouse to watch the sun set. We stayed in Exo Gonia, but again, the island is so small that you can't get too far off the beaten path.
Must eats-Any of the restaurants are pretty bomb and the shops are so cute that I almost convinced myself I'm loaded so I could spend all the money without feeling a hair of guilt. Be sure you stop in Pyrgos and eat a few gyros/ get froyo at Chillbox. May have eaten that greek yogurt deliciousness for dinner. Also, to make your life complete you've got to find a restaurant that serves loukoumades (honey balls). I was pumped on that sugary treat for days.
Day 9-10: Took a flight from Santorini back to Athens, stopped in Amsterdam for a few hours and headed back to the U.S.A.

Tips: Check out closing times of any tourist sight you're looking to see. We found our round -trip flights to Greece on @flightsfromhome 's Instagram for $400. If I'm not seeing awesome deals for where I want to go on Flights From Home I usually check Google Flights first. Our trip lasted a total of 10 days (including travel time) and I think that was a great amount of time if you're just planning on staying in Greece. If you book a cheap flight through Ryan Air or from the Santorini airport in general, check into your flight before you leave for the airport and try to pack light. Our $20 twenty five minute flight turned into $150 0r so real quick. They charged us $50 to hand write our boarding passes on a piece of paper and another chunk of change for our overweight luggage. Loosen up and make some new Greek buds. They're the best people and truly exemplify what it means to live in the moment. Most people speak English, so you're good to go. The only word I memorized that I can pass on to you is efcharisto. It means thank you.

Red Sand Beach- Santorini

The greek men are ca-razy. So forward.  Sooo forward. And so cheeky. My lanta. We stumbled upon the guy pictured above when we pulled over to take pictures with a beautiful wildflower field. He had an outdoor shop of sorts set up and was painting his boat. I got in one of his boats and told him to take a picture with me. He started pestering me for a kiss on the cheek and I eventually agreed to one. As I leaned in he swiftly turned his head and planted one right on the lips. I only tell this story because these photos have so much life in them and my reaction is priceless (see below).

Views brought to you by Akrotiri Lighthouse.

New album cover.

So many "ass" jokes. So little time. Please ride a donkey for me if you get the chance. I didn't get around to it and I have some regrets.

Atlantis books is one for...the books. Seriously could have spent an hour in this cute little nook.

Breathtaking beauty brought to you by Oia.

Cute worded bracelets are from Proverb Bands. Love their simplicity and how they stack so nicely with my other jewelry. Use my code "CASS" for 20% off your purchase.

Ornos Beach, Mykonos. I had a lot of questions about my suit and hat. That little white beauty that is so comfy and is made of the cutest fabric ever is from Marysia Swim. I'm wearing a size small.
The wide-brimmed sturdy hat is from Lack of Colour and is made so well. I can't/won't stop wearing it.

Mykonos showing off.

Amster...dammit. Wishing we could have stayed here for a couple more days or possibly forever. Everyone needs to head here asap, eat all the pastries and walk around on these beautiful streets all day long.

Thanks for dropping by. Love you homies. xoxo.
